Security Systems Article by New Straits Times here
Submitted by cbt on Sun, 26/04/2009 - 7:46am ONE might blame it on the current economic crisis but whatever the reasons, more cars are getting stolen. Recently, three Honda Civics were reported stolen in Wangsamaju, all in one night. Then another Civic disappeared in Subang Jaya, this time in the owner's house compound. To allay the fears of car owners against theft, Desmond Chong of KL Auto has the answer. Chong is banking on a new alarm system that he has brought in, the Autowatch 211Hi security system. Simple yet effective, this system has been installed in the latest BMW, Mercedes-Benz and even Porsche. Protecting you from theft, robbery and car-jacking, the Autowatch 211Hi allows the car to be driven for no more than 2km or three minutes (once activated). It will then activate the car's horn and hazard lights. The next stage will see the car stuttering as the fuel supply is cut, forcing the thief to coast the car to a dead stop at the side of the road. The Autowatch system is completely stealth and best of all, it does not require any annual subscription fee. Desmond is so confident of his product that he is challenging any CBT reader to drive away his Toyota Estima for more than 2km. Do that and he will give you the RM1,300 worth of AutoWatch system free. You don't even have to break into his Estima as he will personally hand you the keys.
" I put my Money where my mouth is " If you see reflections of Nicholas Cage's character from Gone In 60 Seconds in you, then take up Desmond's challenge to see if you can get away with his Toyota Estima.
The Desmond challenge is valid till May 31 2009. For those Gone In 60 Seconds wannabes, call him at 012-624 0373 or 03-4042 9928 or log on to www.autofoam.com.my NO Annual Subcription Fees To PAY!!!
How easily cars are STOLEN! Article by TheSun here
SEREMBAN (May 21, 2009) : This device that Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Osman Salleh is holding is called an electronic signal detector that was used by a band of car thieves to neutralise a car's security alarm system. According to Osman, the device is worth RM15,000 and was among several tools seized from a car-theft syndicate which was active in the state and Selangor. Police arrested four men on May 13 and have since recovered six cars, including three 4WD vehicles, believed stolen by the gang. "The stolen vehicles are three Toyota Hilux (4WD), a Toyota Vios, a Naza Ria and a Perodua Viva, all worth an estimated RM400,000," he told reporters here today. Osman said the vehicles were reported stolen in Negeri Sembilan and Selangor between end of last year and early this year. Police nabbed the first suspect in Sikamat on May 13, while he was driving a Toyota Hilux that was reported stolen in Section 6, Shah Alam, Selangor earlier that day. "After initial investigations, police arrested three other men and recovered five more vehicles, 36 road tax discs and several tools including the electronic signal detector," he said. The suspects, comprising two locals and two Bangladeshis, were remanded to facilitate investigations. "Investigations are going on to track down their accomplices and find out how and to whom the stolen cars are sold," he said. -- Bernama more thought wreaking news here
